The poem ‘How to Stay Put’ was my response to the domesticity we all underwent during the March/April shutdown. The home became the focus with a flurry of vegetable growing and homemade produce. I drew my inspiration from the Victory Gardens that were an essential part of feeding the population during World War Two.
The poem ‘Irritable Bowl’ is my firsthand experience of suffering with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. After years of bloating and pain and numerous tests the medical profession diagnosed IBS. It is quite a minefield going out to dinner trying to avoid hidden foods that may trigger a very painful response. Cabbage, Beans, and Cauliflower are the enemies.
